Frequently Asked Questions
Once I start chiropractic care, do I have to keep going? Your health and your care are completely in your control. After your initial round of care, Dr. Gioia will probably recommend that you return to our office once a month for a check up. Like regular dental checkups, eye exams, or oil changes in your car, many of our patients decide to continue with some form of wellness chiropractic care.
Is Chiropractic Safe?
Yes. Chiropractic has the lowest cost of malpractice insurance among all health care providers. Chiropractic adjustments are so safe, even newborns and children can receive adjustments to repair the damage caused from birth, learning to walk, or other childhood related traumas.
Are chiropractors real doctors?
Yes. The educational requirements for doctors of chiropractic are among the most stringent of any of the health care professions. After four years of pre-medical undergraduate college education, doctors of chiropractic typically undergo four to five years of rigorous education in the healing sciences, similar to that of medical doctors. In some areas, such as anatomy, physiology, rehabilitation, nutrition and public health, they receive more intensive education than their MD counterparts. In total, the curriculum includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical experience.
This extensive education prepares doctors of chiropractic to diagnose health care problems, treat the problems when they are within their scope of practice and refer patients to other health care practitioners when appropriate.
What is the cost of a visit?
There are so many factors that determine the cost of a visit. The first factor is what services are being provided. The second factor is insurance. Insurance companies set the price for the services provided, and different insurance companies have different prices.
What happens during my first visit?
After registering your information with the front desk, Dr. Gioia will sit down with you and review your medical history. He will then perform an exam to help him determine the extent of your condition. More than likely, an x-ray will be taken after your exam to further determine the cause of your condition (We don’t want to guess when it comes to your health). After reviewing your x-rays and his exam findings, Dr. Gioia will treat you before you leave. Your first visit usually takes about an hour. Subsequent visits are usually less than 15 minutes.
